MOUNTAIN VIEW RV PARK
Historical Use
Large industrial past

Elko has a very rich history of industry that is still prevalent to this day.
Mountain View RV Park is conveniently situated on one of BC's past large industrial Mill sites. Early in the 1960's, this site as well as the two other adjacent properties were the sites of a thriving location of industry to supply the economic development of the East Kootenay Region, as well as other regions. To this day the property to the north is still in operation as Kootenay Landscape Bark.
Mountain View RV Park is the location where the Planer Mill, used onsite gravel to level the property and compact it and adjacent Crown Land in order to operate heavy equipment such as Lumber Trucks and fork lifts to handle the large bundles of rough sawn lumber to put into the planer mill for processing into conventional lumber such as we see today in stores.
There was a "Bee Hive Burner" on the adjacent South Crown Land just off the property of Mountain View RV Park, where they burned the wood waste from the mill operation.
The location of this property was favorable for the Railway to have a "Rail Siding" where rail rail cars would back onto the property to be loaded with the finished product of lumber.
Currently, about 5km South is the Super Mill of Canfor (Canadian Forest Products Ltd.), where high volumes of lumber are manufactured for many places around the world.

Mountain View RV Park is passionate about finding a "higher use" for this land that has been disturbed from its natural state and has sat idle for decades with minimal use.
Mountain View RV Park is dedicated to continued land improvements for future generations to enjoy the rich history of this amazingly beautiful area that Elko is.
